1922 Book Launch

About this event

Costa Vertzayias AM launches his new book 1922, about the tragic events connected with the destruction of Smyrna. His extensive research tackles controversial subjects such as: the duplicitous role of Greece’s allies; the Greek “national schism”; the ramifications of the Russian Revolution; secret agreements; massacres and other atrocities; the betrayal on the Smyrna waterfront; the plan to capture Constantinople; the Thracian Catastrophe; Western complicity in the denial of the Christian genocides; the eradication of the remaining Christians of Turkey after 1922 and the effects of the Treaty of Lausanne in determining the equilibrium in the Aegean today. Refreshments provided.
