The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences invites you to attend the 15th Annual Florey Postgraduate Research Conference Professional Development Session.
The Professional Development session “Pave the pathway to your ultimate career” will begin with our guest speakers Dr Monica Kerr, Director of CaRST and Director of Researcher Development and Mrs Michelle McKinnon from Career Service at the University of Adelaide.
For many research degree graduates exiting academia, navigating the way from their PhD into secure employment can be daunting. During this 2 hour interactive session, Michelle McKinnon will be addressing many of the key obstacles that face HDR students on their path to successful careers. The session will include:
Opportunity awareness
Where is the demand for Health and Med HDR grads? Who are the employers and what are the job titles?
Competing for jobs
- Decoding the job ad – what are “non-academic” employers looking for?
- Think like a recruiter. What stands out on a resume?
- Articulating your “value add” to future employers
