Event description

Description

Are you training for a multi-day walking holiday or hiking trip (e.g. the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail) and need to fit some training hikes in as preparation? Or are you a tourist, keen to see what South Australia's bushland is like?

We will be walking a loop route that takes in part of the Microcarpa track and the Waterfall track, including the Echo Tunnel. The route is approx. 12km in length, and covers a range of terrain from relatively smooth sections of compacted paths, steep stairs and a lot of uneven rough terrain, slopes up and down. Perfect training if you are training for a multi-day hiking holiday e.g. the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail as it gives you experience on a variety of rough terrains, it's a decent length of time and distance to be on your feet, and gives you a chance to make sure your hiking boots, hiking poles, backpack etc are all suitable for this kind of activity before you head off on your holiday. We will be allowing approx. 4 - 4.5 hours for this hike, including time for a little break along the way to eat whatever you have packed for your lunch, and small breaks to take photos of the wildlife and views along the way.

This small group activity would be a perfect way to spend a few hours in the outdoors on a Saturday! Both women and men are welcome on this hike, and a moderate level of fitness is needed as this is a 12km/4 hour hike acrossa variety of terrains. We will be meeting near the Belair Railway Station so people can choose to come by public transport or car. There is an entrance to the National Park right next to the Railway Station and we will be meeting there near the entrance archway.

Requirements for participating:

Everyone participating will need to sign a waiver to say they are exercising at their own risk before commencing the hike. All participants will also be required to complete a pre-exercise screening form to help identify anyone who may be at higher risk of an adverse event during the hike. E.g. If you have particular medical issues/injuries or recent joint replacements in your knees/hips/ankles/hips this would not be suitable without medical clearance.

If you are interested in joining us, but are concerned you may not have the fitness level to take part - please contact Sarah before registering - she will be happy to chat over the phone and help you decide if it would be suitable or not and whether you might need to seek medical clearance first. JetSetGo Fitness may refuse to allow a client to participate if they are deemed to be at higher risk of an adverse event during the activity for health/fitness reasons or for other safety reasons e.g. due to not bringing appropriate gear/clothing on the hike. See www.jetsetgofitness.com for further terms and conditions.

What you might see on the hike: beautiful nature views, waterfalls (if it has been raining), wildlife - sometimes including koalas, kangaroos, emus and lots of different birds and native plants/flowers.

Who is your host? Sarah, personal trainer and owner of JetSetGo Fitness. Sarah is passionate about travelling and enjoying the outdoors, and loves sharing her favourite nature walks with others. Sarah has a current First Aid Certificate and will be carrying a first aid kit on the walk.
