Toowoomba Railway Station
Toowoomba, Qld 4350
Toowoomba is experiencing a transportation revolution with the development of the Wellcamp Airport promising limitless possibilities for fast, efficient connection to National and International destinations.
This is the second such revolution experience by the city of Toowoomba. On April 12 1867 a ceremonial train pulled into Toowoomba greeted by an enthusiastic crowd. With this event the new town was connected to the world. Toowoomba experienced an unparalleled boom in growth, industry and development as a result.
Come and relive this revolutionary period as we explore the Toowoomba Railway precinct and reflect on the enormous significance the railway has had in shaping the development of Toowoomba. Having gained unparalleled access to the precinct, including the distribution and storage focus of early Toowoomba, the goods shed, Toowoomba’s Open House invites you to take part in a wonderful journey of exploration.
Enjoy an informative guided tour of the Railway Precinct. Each tour runs for between 90 -120 minutes commencing at 10.30am and 2.00pm. Bookings are essential and a small donation is encouraged.
Toowoomba Open House is a not-for-profit community event made possible with the support of the National Trust of Australia (Queensland), Australian Institute of Architects, Queensland Heritage Council and Toowoomba Regional Council.... and the many building owners who open their buildings to the public for free each year.
