Description

ECU's School of Science is providing a one-day school holiday coding workshop for High School students - girls are encouraged to join us

In 100 lines of code - add buzzers, joysticks, and breadboards; use python, maths, and electronics to create a game and game controller.

Suitable for high school students aged 13 and up.

Plan for the day

9:00 - 9:30 - Welcome and introduction

9:30 - 10:30 - Programming Principles - Code a M: bit and create 'Chase the dot' game!

11:30 - 12:30 - Building on - create the game 'Hide N Seek' adding a Joystick - hope your Math is good!

1:00 - 2:00 - Extend the M: bit by adding buttons, buzzers and create a 'real controller'

2:00- 3:00 - Test lab - Play each other's game

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never coded before we have ECU Computer Science students on board to help guide you

What to Bring: Thumb drive or a place to email your code!

BYO catering: water bottles, lunch, and snacks. There are also cafés and vending machines around campus that you can access

Location: Joondalup - Building 18, Level 2, Room 204

Parking: Parking area 14 – Visitors parking and drop off area, Lakeside Drive entrance.

Dates and Times: Tuesday 1st October from 09:00 until 03:00
