The Innovation Policy Branch develops policy and designs programs to enhance industry innovation in Australia, including industry and public sector innovation. It monitors innovation policy developments within and outside Australia and regularly meets with stakeholders to identify emerging issues. It maintains strong engagement with representative industry bodies, other government agencies, State and Territory governments, and the OECD. Overall policy responsibility for a number of innovation programs within the branch includes: the Climate Ready program, COMET, venture capital support through the Innovation Investments Funds, and the Pre-Seed Fund. The Branch is also involved in a range of initiatives to foster innovation in the public sector.
