The Australian Institute of Architects Foundation, established in 2014, is a national body committed to fostering and promoting the art and creativity of architecture for the benefit of the Australian community.
The Foundation is about education, awareness, and appreciation and involvement, and aims to engage philanthropic support to develop a range of programs and activities that will articulate creativity and innovation to promote
architecture to the broader Australian community.
The Foundation’s inaugural program, the Droga Architect in Residence, is an exciting concept that is unique in Australia, and one of only a few such architect residencies worldwide. Candidates are selected by a jury following an international call out to architects based outside Australia who can demonstrate the highest standard of excellence in architecture and design.
The architectural residency provides a rare and challenging opportunity for the international participants and outcomes include reciprocal contributions to culture building, engagement and exchanges between the overseas resident and the local community.
