Albert Street Primary School

Student Leadership is strongly embedded with the Albert St community. Throughout the year the senior students are mentored about leadership qualities through informal and formal opportunities. School Captains plan and implement weekly assemblies and inform visitors to the school about our programs. House Sports Captains are responsible for lunchtime activities and equipment. Junior School Counselors are responsible for input into policy review, fundraising and capturing the voice of the student community.

The School Council plays a significant role in the governance of our school, in particular with the review of policies. The Buildings and Grounds committee continues to focus on the beautification of school grounds. A growing volunteering cohort of family members has assisted with canteen, cooking & gardening programs, discos, sporting events and general classroom assistance.

The Chaplaincy program has continued to strengthen relationships with the immediate community and develop confidence in families to participate in their children’s education. There is an established partnership with Gippsland Education Skills Employment which has provided employment and well-being resources for our families.

The school continues to work with Latrobe Community Health Services whereby their clients support our Early Years’ Oral language Program. Students and academic staff are also working in partnership with our Oral Language Program. Bunnings, Moe Lions and Moe Rotary have supported the growth of our community garden and sensory garden projects. A recent partnership has been established with Good Beginnings Latrobe which has enable the establishment of Albert St PS Playgroup.
