Understanding Victoria’s equal opportunity human rights laws can be a vital first step in overcoming barriers, receiving and delivering better service and creating opportunities for people to participate more fully in community life.

This workshop presented by Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission provides an overview the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 and the Charter Human Rights and Responsibilities and shows how they can be used by community organisations to improve services.

This workshop will:

• give an overview of equal opportunity and human rights law in Victoria
• look at the responsibilities of community organisations both as employers and service providers
• look at how community organisations might use the equal opportunity and human rights law as an advocacy tool
• provide information on how the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commision can help you comply and work towards good practice.
