WOMANZ Waitangi Day Celebration
Date and time
Location
Herbert Smith Freehills
101 Collins Street L42 Melbourne, VIC 3000 AustraliaDescription
You’re invited to join WOMANZ and NZTE members, the New Zealand Consulate and other special guests for a unique celebration of what has become New Zealand’s national day. Last year the event was full with over 85 attendees. This year will be no exception with our Te Hononga O Nga Iwi Maori Party and a special raffle to win a long weekend at a property in the idyllic Matakana town just out of Warkworth (90 mins north of Auckland), sponsored by WOMANZ team member Jo Fisher.
Always a stirring and memorable event, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Waitangi Day 2017 marks the 177th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document. Signed on February 6th 1840 by representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs, this document made New Zealand a part of the British Empire, guaranteed Maori rights to their land and gave Maori the rights of British subjects.
Light refreshments will be served.
This is a free event with thanks to our event sponsors NZTE and Herbert Smith Freehills.
