It’s always interesting to see what our fellow cultural institutions have on offer and with The National Gallery of Australia proudly presenting Toulouse-Lautrec Paris & The Moulin Rouge (due to finish shortly), why not take this unique opportunity to see this exhibition with likeminded Members and friends and compare the Belle Époque with the classical age?

Our day includes morning tea en route at Berrima, a delicious gourmet picnic lunch on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, luxury coach transport and admission to the exhibition.

We’ll depart at 7.45am from out the front of the Australian Museum and return at approximately 8.00pm.

About the exhibition
This special exhibition offers the opportunity to see a major retrospective devoted to the art of the French 19th century artist, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec: his paintings, drawings, posters and prints. You will see his abilities as an acute observer of Parisian life, his skill as a draughtsman, his experimentation in composition and the brilliance of his technical execution in all media, shedding new light on his involvement in Parisian culture. Toulouse-Lautrec: Paris & The Moulin Rouge traces the artist’s career from his earliest works to his extraordinary depictions of the Paris social scene, the dance halls, the café-concerts, the brothels and theatres. This he did in an insightful way, capturing the essence of his Parisian characters and haunts. Toulouse-Lautrec’s subject matter was to become thoroughly modern and he became an influential figure in the evolution of the art of the twentieth century
