Nature's only experiment in higher intelligence faces a number of grave, existential threats. What intellectual resources exist to help us think our way through these dangers? Can these resources become the foundations of an intellectual self-defence against the urgent challenges that humanity confronts today?
Exploring themes as diverse as religion, psychology, philosophy and social theory, Dr Scott Burchill, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at Deakin University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, will present this unique, controversial and thought-provoking lecture.
Dr Burchill’s research interests include the theory of international relations, international political economy and Australian foreign policy. He is a widely published author and regular on 774 Melbourne ABC Radio with Jon Faine, ABC News Breakfast TV (ABC1 and ABC24) and The Project (Channel 10), and writes for The Age, The Drum and The Conversation.
