In an open forum members of Australia's Oculi photographic collective explore the role of authorship in documentary photography.
As visual story tellers documentary photographers must balance the responsibility of journalistic integrity while presenting perspectives within a visually artistic framework. To share information it must be framed and presented to the viewer.
How does the role of subjective authorship interface with the assumption of journalistic objectivity in visual storytelling?
Members of Oculi will show examples and discuss this and other subjects in an open panel discussion. Interaction from those attending will be openly encouraged. This is a great opportunity to interact with some of Australias most talented documentary photographers.
Oculi Members will include:
- Dean Sewell
- Andrew Quilty
- Raphaela Rosella
- James Brickwood
- Jeremy Piper
- David Maurice Smith.
