Description

Despite many advancements in the last few decades, women still face significant systemic challenges that threaten their financial security.

Right Lane has committed to examining this inequity by hosting an annual forum that brings together influential, passionate and like-minded people to innovate and develop real solutions to lift women in Australia out of financial hardship.

Last year, Right Lane’s women’s financial security forum looked at women’s financial security through a broad lens, examining five levers of change: financial resilience, economic and social participation, cost of living, policy settings and community attitudes. This year, the forum will take a more targeted look at the cost of living, specifically around the issue of housing security.

There are many organisations providing a range of housing options for women in financial difficulty, however relevant stakeholders suggest more must be done, as:
• the need for these services far exceeds supply and is expected to increase;
• there are significant barriers for investment in long term, sustainable, social and affordable housing.

As a society, we need to do something different to support secure and sustainable housing for all women.
