Reading to children: tips for grandparents and parents
Discover the enjoyment of reading aloud and learn how to enrich your reading time with your grandchildren or children.
Participants will be shown techniques for reading to young children. You will be able to explore a selection of books suited to reading aloud, and watch a demonstration of reading techniques.
About the presenter
Julie Long has a Bachelor of Education majoring in Children's Literature. She has been an active member of the Children's Book Council (ACT Branch) for more than thirty years, holding a number of roles during this time. She is currently serving a 2 year term as an Awards Coordinator for the Children's Book Council Of Australia Book of the Year Awards. Julie is a reviewer for Reading Time, the national journal of the Children's Book Council (twenty-eight years) and spent three years as Assistant Editor. She is active in the Scout Association, serving as a Cub Scout leader for eighteen years and is currently the Commissioner for the Arts in Canberra. In 1999, she was awarded an OAM for her services to the Youth of Canberra.
