Event Details

Here’s your chance to mix, mingle and get a photo with a national, real food hero. Costa will give a talk about the future of local food, food security and more. Also featured on the night:

Produce swap
Bring your best fruit and veg for what might be Brisbane’s biggest swap

Permaculture Ukulele
Groove to the tunes of the Formidable Vegetable Sound System’s Charlie Mgee

Food and drinks
Grab some slow food and beer and chill out.

And much, much more!

How is this amazing event free?!

Great question! Normally you might pay more than $20 to hear the Formidable Vegetable Sound System alone! Instead we want to do something great and pull together foodies, thought-leaders, changemakers, home/community gardeners, and great people in general to mix and have a great night out.

Costa will be launching RipeNearMe's crowdfunding campaign on the day to take their food-sharing platform to a whole new level (more details to come). We'll be taking pledges and donations for the campaign on the night (totally optional).

Slow Food Brisbane will be raising awareness for the amazing work they do to improve health, the environment and food security, and we want to share those with you.

So what are you waiting for? Register now and join us for an awesome night of fun, entertainment and more.

Here's a teaster of the Formidable Vegetable Sound System.

This FREE event is celebrating the reinvigoration of Slow Food Brisbane and the crowdfunding campaign of RipeNearMe

RipeNearMe Slow Food Brisbane

RipeNearMe maps food that people grow in their yards for some seriously addictive online foraging. Anyone can add produce they've grown or spotted growing wild on public land.

But far more than just a map, we engage the community around you to make ultra-local food a natural part of life - like it was for your grandparents and their parents.

Slow Food promotes food that is Good, Clean and Fair

Good, because it is healthy in addition to tasting good; Clean, because it is produce with low environmental impact and with animal welfare in mind; and Fair, because it respects the work of those who produce, process and distribute it.
