Macrame Planter Workshop with Kitiya Palaskas
***Kit will be leading us in the workshop off her newly decked out Craft Bike!!***
This fantatsic workshop will teach you how to create lovely decorative pieces for yourself and inspire some DIY handmade gifts too!
Learn the basics of macramé - the art of hand-knotting - in this beginners workshop by craft-based designer Kitiya Palaskas. Kit will teach you a variety of simple knotting techniques that you’ll then use to make your very own plant hanger. Bring along a small vase, container, or vessel (vintage ceramics and glassware are perfect!) from home to fit inside your plant hanger to complete the look.
Suitable for ages 13+, most materials provided- we will have a few spare vessels for those unable to bring their own.
Kitiya Palaskas is a craft-based designer, creative workshop teacher, trained printmaker, and creator of tactile fun things. In her spare time she captains the Sydney Etsy Team and is author of the blog Candy Castle. She enjoys tropical prints, indoor plants, party supply stores, and eating dessert for dinner. You can often find her behind a sewing machine, buried under piles of fancy paper scraps, and/or frantically bedazzling anything in sight.
The Australian Design Centre is the leading arts organisation dedicated exclusively to design in Australia.
For fifty years, the Australian Design Centre has played a vital role in championing Australian design and this major anniversary coincides with the opening of a new home for the organisation in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
The new Centre will support the Australian design community while providing the public with the opportunity to connect with the latest innovations and design trends through exhibitions, talks, workshops and education programs.
