Event Details

We all know we are what we eat. But do you know what you're really eating?

That's the question we'll be exploring at our September Inspiring Film Night.

Before the film, you can get a delicious, raw organic (and GMO-free!) meal from Realistically Raw You, a healthy drink and check out some exhibitors who are passionate about healthy, sustainable living. After the film, we'll have a Q&A panel of special guest speakers and an informed discussion about the GMO situation in Australia.

Knowledge is power - make sure you know what's really in your food! Whether you've been following what's happening with GMOs for sometime or you don't even know what it means - there will be something in this night for everyone! Bring your family, bring your friends, let's come together to understand what's really happening to our food so we can make better choices and take back control of our health!

(Please note: there is no ATM at the venue. It's best to be prepared with some cash if you'd like to buy a meal, drink, raffle ticket or any products from our exhibitors.)

ABOUT THE FILM

GMO OMG director and concerned father Jeremy Seifert is in search of answers. How do GMOs affect our children, the health of our planet, and our freedom of choice? And perhaps the ultimate question, which Seifert tests himself: is it even possible to reject the food system currently in place, or have we lost something we can’t gain back?

These and other questions take Seifert on a journey from his family’s table to Haiti, Paris, Norway, and the lobby of agra-giant Monsanto, from which he is unceremoniously ejected. Along the way we gain insight into a question that is of growing concern to citizens the world over: what's on your plate?

What people are saying about GMO OMG

"GMO OMG arguably does for genetically modified organisms what Al Gore’s 2006 Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth did for climate change." The Progressive

"Even those who have been paying close attention to these issues are likely to glean some new insight into the various branches of the matter." - Village Voice

"There are still many people who aren't aware of GMOs and their very real threat to biodiversity, the environment and our health (just poll your neighbours). Yet a shift in consciousness is now taking place and Seifert has deliberately couched his documentary to assist it." - Organic Connections

"GMO OMG is the next documentary you want to put on your to-watch list." - Treehugger.com

"What's great about this film is how it lays out all the issues so clearly, from the viewpoint of a charismatic dad of three young kids who is worried about their future." - Epicurious
