Event Details

Jim Pollock from the Astronomical Society of Victoria will discuss the history and restoration of the Great Melbourne Telescope.

The telescope  was originally installed in the Melbourne Observatory in 1869 and remained the largest fully steerable telescope in the world until 1909.  The intention is to make it fully functional and to use it for education and viewing nights for the general public.
