Guiding your daughter through puberty
Thursday, 14 August 2014 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM (AEST)
Young girls who experience their menarche (first period) well prepared, with a positive introduction and emotional support from their family, experience higher self-esteem and fewer negative cycle-related systems.
This session is about helping parents and carers guide young girls so they are familiar and comfortable with their body and cycle from the start, and can identify and ask for what they need with confidence.
The session will include ways to introduce information about the changes of puberty in a relaxed and welcoming way, barriers to talking about menstruation and body developments, when to start these conversations and what you can do to help your daughter feel informed and positive about her transition to adolescence. A range of resources and practical tips will be shared.
Presented by Janoel Liddy with Jac Torres-Gomez, Celebration Day for Girls facilitators and Darebin mothers.
Individuals may choose to book directly with Darebin Libraries by contacting the library on telephone 1300 655 355.
