What on earth is a Fuck Up Night?
On a set date at a set time, people gather in a range of venues around the world to have a drink and a chat. Sounds like a normal night out, yeah? Well... Almost.
Throughout the night each person is set with two small challenges:
- Meet someone new
- Share a fuck up you’ve made. It doesn’t matter how big or small the fuck up is.
It's a 6pm arrival for a 7pm start.
Fuck Up Night Kampala is hosted by Writing Our World. Writing our world exists to teach young people aged between 8 and 25 years critical thinking through specially designed programs, support and mentorship using writing, debating and spoken word so as to enable them to tackle community needs. Fuck Up Night coincides with Writing Our World's 3rd birthday and so are keen to celebrate the challenges and mistakes which have been made along the way.
When & Where
Spur Projects (Soften the Fck Up)
Spur Projects is an evolving idea: We believe that to tackle the rate of suicide amongst men in Australia, bold new approaches to suicide prevention are required.
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men aged 14 to 44, and 80% of all suicides in Australia are men. Spur exists to make it easier for men to take positive action than to suicide.
We know that the risk of suicide diminishes drastically with help and support. For many men, however, seeking help and support is not always an easy thing to do. Spur is here to change this, by challenging men to start the conversation, both metaphorically and literally.
