Description

Deep Winter Agrarian Gathering 2017

"Moving the fence post"

This year, we've decided to do something a little different. We've decided to throw a theme in the mix to help steer and focus the short amount of time we have for deep discussion. Our theme this year is: "Moving the fence post."Accordingly, we hope this will inspire break out groups on new approaches to farming, whether that be technically or structurally or ways to mitigate the many new and old challenges facing farmers today.

DEEP WINTER 2017 - THE RUNDOWN:

Friday 7 July: This year we're adding the option of joining a local farm tour. For $30 you can jump on a bus for the day and visit a number of farms in the region. We'll also put on a light lunch. More details on the bus tour will be available once we gauge interest.

In the evening we'll gather at our local bowling club in Bangalow (affectionately known as 'The Bowlo') for a casual dinner. Stockpot Kitchen who run the kitchen at The Bowlo have developed quite a cult following among locals and are well known for putting on an excellent affordable feed.

Saturday 8th July: We'll gather at the Bangalow A & I Hall 9am - 3.30pm to discuss and share knowledge. We're still developing the program for the day.

At 4.30pm, attendees are invited to Byron Creek Farm for dinner, drinks and general friendly chat. We know many of you will be travelling quite a way this time round so while we still encourage bringing and sharing your farming fare in the pot luck tradition we will also be happy to provide the bulk of dinner requirements. Camping overnight is available by request, please get in touch for more details.

Sunday 9th July: We'll gather at the Hall again from 9am - 1pm to keep talking + networking, then pack up, and head home.

WHAT'S WITH THE TICKETS:

The ticketing this year will be open to previous farmer attendees first. We'll also be keeping the farmer and farmers friend categories.

Farmer vs farmers friend tickets: we hope this is pretty self-explanatory - if you're a full-time farmer, book in with a farmer's ticket. If you're anything else: retailer, advocate, chef, lobbyist, connector, future farmer, food lover, food system builder etc, book in as a farmers friend. We've kept these tickets seperate as we want to ensure there's enough space for farmers, who may take a while to book in (because they're busy farming, or figuring out if they can take time off the farm to come along). Please respect the ticket types.

WHAT TO BRING:

Bring your own cup! And anything required to serve your food contribution on Saturday night if you are doing so.

More information is available here and more details will be provided as the event gets closer.
