Café Scientifique: Xenotransplantation –the solution to our organ shortage?
Wednesday, 10 October 2012 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM (ACDT)
Recent awareness programs about organ donation has highlighted the shortage of organs Australia faces for transplantation. One potential solution may be xenotransplantation – taking organs from animals and transplanting them into humans.
Is this a feasible way forward, or is it sci-fi fantasy? And what are the ethical and social issues around this?
Join our panel of experts as they discuss Xenotransplantation, and then open the floor to you, the audience, to discuss and question them about whether xenotransplantation is a direction Australia should be considering. Have your say.
Speakers to be announced.
