Building Resiliency Against Childhood Bullying
A Workshop and Presentation for Adults
This inaugural session presents solutions to build mental resiliency in the face of bullying, shows how to reduce bullying in school, looks at the resources available through SuperParents and overviews the non-lethal non-violent tactics we train children in as part of our Children's Core 1 Anti-Bully course.
Participants will get to use our Building Personal Resiliency tool which helps analyse your own personal situation so you develop the right strengths and skills for yourself and your entire family.
Bullying has long been considered a dreaded and unavoidable part of schoolyard antics. No child talked about it because no one knew the situation could be improved. No adult talked about it because no one knew the extent of the problem nor the options available to them.
Have you asked yourself these questions:
- Can you tell if a child is being bullied?
- Can you tell if a child is a bully?
- What can you do to help your child build resiliency if you are a parent?
- What can the school do to improve the environment that children are in?
- What policies actually help to reduce incidences of bullying?
- What resources are available to you?
If you are an adult working with children, a parent, educator or community leader, and if you would like a more proactive plan of action to reduce the probability of bullying, to identify if a child is a victim or if a child is bullying, and if you want to create a nurturing and safe environment for children, this presentation workshop is for you.
Come to our FREE Anti-Bully Presentation for Adults valued at $50 and talk about these issues. Develop your own resiliency plan to do something about it!
Joong Do Kwan and SuperParents plan on making a difference. We want children to be nurtured; we want children to develop mental robustness. We want adults to be able to assess the ability of a school to manage bullying in a proactive and effective maner. We want to improve the world by helping you start with yourself.
This is the best of martial arts - to develop your inner strength and in turn for you to lift up everyone else around you.
The presentation features Master Colin Wee, 6th Dan Traditional Taekwondo. Colin has practiced three martial arts in three countries over the last 29 years. In a previous life he was a National Representative, Club Instructor and Assistant National Coach in Archery. Over the last decade, Colin has provided significant support to two Montessori institutions in Perth at the board and committee level. Colin holds a BBA (Hons) in Organisation Behaviour, and a Masters in Business and Technlogy.
Notes: Participants are encouraged to come at 6:45pm for a 7pm start. You may park in the basement of the new Peppermint Grove library. Please bring a pen with you.
Colin Wee, Chung Sah Nim of Joong Do Kwan, asks for you to help support us and your local community by participating in this inaugural event. Please support this event by sharing it on FaceBook. You must register and you must have a ticket to attend. Gold coin donation appreciated.
When & Where
SuperParents Anti-Bully A Team
SuperParents Pty Ltd is a team of martial art instructors and executives looking at the problem of bullying from both an organisational perspective as well as from the perspective of the individuals involved. The aim is to create a whole-organisation approach to the issue, and to educate all involved about pragmatic and realistic anti-bullying initiatives.
Our anti-bully approach has two themes similar to earlier courses developed by Founder Colin Wee. The two themes are 'no one wants to be victimised' and 'we must take control of factors within our control.' Including this into the course material meant we could take bullying statistics and anti-bullying tactics to a higher level - forming a course that would not only help a your security, but also positively nurture participants to take control of their lives.
This empowerment theme is an important distinction in our series and will guide our focus every time we consult for schools, work with educators or parents, and nurture children.
