Personal Freedom and Respect for the Sacred
Boundaries have been shifting in the various attempts to accommodate cultural and religious practices within the process of maintaining the balances between human rights and respect for diverse social and belief traditions.
- But where are the boundaries to be drawn?
- How are the balances to be maintained in a socially cohesive society?
This symposium will address such issues through the various controversies that have divided contemporary Australia:
- Religious practices in public space.
- Religious Law and Civil Law: Lessons from the Clerical Sex Abuse Scandal.
- Exclusive Religions and Human Rights
