Dave McClure is recognised as one of the world's most successful and prominent angel investors. He is the founding partner of 500 Startups, an internet startup seed fund and incubator program based in Mountain View, California, which is consistently ranked amongst the top accelerator programs in the world.

Dave began his career in Silicon Valley as an early employee at PayPal, and belongs to a select group of individuals known as the PayPal Mafia, who have been credited with inspiring the consumer internet boom of the last decade. Following the acquisition of PayPal by eBay in 2002, Dave began angel investing in companies such as Mint.com (acquired by Intuit for $175M), Slideshare (acq. by LinkedIn for $119M) and Mashery (acq. by Intel for $180M). He then went on to run Founders Fund and Peter Thiel's Facebook Fund where he continued to invest successfully, leading investments in companies such as Lyft (last reported valuation ~$700M+) and Twilio (last reported valuation ~$500M).

Since it was formed in July 2010, 500 Startups has already invested in 750+ companies with approximately 40% of these deals being sourced internationally outside of the US. Over 50 companies in the portfolio have already been acquired, including Makerbot Industries (acq. for $400M by Stratasys) and Wildfire Interactive (acq. for $350M by Google).
